|
Q: What is an extended service plan, and why do I need one?
|
| A: |
Every new vehicle comes from the manufacturer with a basic factory warranty. This
written agreement states that the manufacturer will repair or replace most parts of
the vehicle in the event of a mechanical malfunction for a limited amount of time or
miles. Once the manufacturer's warranty expires, you have nothing to protect you from
expensive repairs. Some manufacturers will include additional powertrain coverage along with
their factory warranty, but this warranty only covers the 29 or so parts through which oil
flows. Viking Warranty coverage is protection against the increasing cost of repairing your vehicle after the
manufacturers warranty is expired. With the average length of car ownership increasing, the likelihood
of needing a major repair on your car increases dramatically. Viking Warranty can protect your
vehicle and your budget with the coverage that best suits your needs. Whether you own or plan
to purchase a Car, Light Truck, or Van, Viking Warranty has a service plan that's just right
for you.

Q: I still have time left on my factory warranty. Why purchase
a service plan now?

benefits may be used immediately. In addition, now is precisely the time to buy
coverage because Viking Warranty can offer you the very lowest price on a service

Q: What is "Wear and Tear" and does Viking cover it?
|
| A: |
Yes, "Wear and Tear" is covered, but there is a difference between "Wear and Tear" and "Normal
Wear" items. Some items in your car are meant to wear out through normal driving, these are
considered "Normal Wear" items including parts like brake shoes and pads, fan belts, spark
plugs etc., these parts should be replaced on a regular basis as a part of a good routine
maintenance schedule. These "Normal Wear" items are not usually covered by any extended
service plan and are listed in the "exclusions" section the contract. "Wear and Tear"
refers to the repair or replacement of parts other than "Normal Wear" parts, that are
no longer within the manufacturers specifications as a result of normal driving.

Q: What is a VIN number, and where do I find it?
|
| A: |
A VIN # is the Vehicle Identification Number. It has 17 digits consisting of
numbers and letters. The VIN # can be found on the lower driver's side dash board while looking
in through the windshield or the inside of the driver's side door. It can also often be found
on the proof of insurance card you carry in your wallet. The VIN number contains a formula
that provides the details about your car as it was originally manufactured.

Q: Where can I get my car repaired?
|
| A: |
You may have the repairs done at any licensed repair facility. We recommend dealerships because
they're used to working with extended service plans. If you have a different repair shop in
mind, that's fine just have their service manager give us a call on the 800 number prior to
beginning any work.

|
Q: How do I file a claim?
|
| A: |
When you take your car to the repair shop for service, have the service manager call us at the
800 number listed in your contract. We will listen to the what the problem is and give him
authorization to begin the work, as well as making sure they understand the filing process.
Never have you car worked on without you or the service manager calling us in advance so
that we may open a claim ticket and authorize the repairs.

|
|
Q: How does the repair shop get paid?
|
| A: |
If the repair shop is in our network, they will bill us directly. If the repair shop is not
part of our network, we will pay them via a corporate credit card. In rare occasions you
may be asked to pay for the repair to be re-imbursed by Viking within a couple of weeks.
In all cases you will be expected to pay your deductible amount at the time of the repair.
